Terms and Conditions
1. Acceptance of Terms
By using the tuition services provided by Pure Tuition, customers acknowledge that they have read, understood and agree to comply with and be bound by the following terms and conditions. Pure Tuition reserve the right to make changes to these terms and conditions from time to time and clients will be notified of these with as much notice as possible.
2. Services offered
Pure Tuition offer online and in-person tutoring services in various subjects and academic levels. The services may include but are not limited to one-on-one (1:1) tutoring sessions, group classes, test preparation, and homework assistance.
2. Fees and payment for tuition
a. Tuition fees are payable in advance. New customers will be provided with a secure GoCardless payment link to pay for their initial tuition session. The initial tuition session must be paid for before the session takes place.
b. Following the initial tuition session, customers wishing to continue with ongoing tuition will be required to set up a GoCardless Direct Debit mandate for future tuition fee payments. Once the Direct Debit mandate has been completed and approved, ongoing tuition fees will be collected automatically on the agreed payment dates. Continued tuition is conditional upon a valid Direct Debit mandate remaining in place. The first Direct Debit collection date will be agreed during the enrolment process and may include payment for tuition already scheduled or booked.
c. By completing a GoCardless Direct Debit mandate, customers authorise Pure Tuition and GoCardless to collect agreed tuition fees from their nominated bank account on the agreed payment dates for all ongoing tuition sessions.
d. Tuition fees, payment amounts and collection dates for ongoing tuition will be agreed during the enrolment process. Customers are responsible for ensuring that sufficient funds are available in their nominated bank account to allow successful collection of each payment.
e. GoCardless will provide customers with advance notice of each Direct Debit collection in accordance with the Direct Debit scheme rules.
f. Customers who wish to request changes to their payment schedule, including payment dates where possible, must notify Pure Tuition in writing at least one week before the next scheduled collection. Pure Tuition will make reasonable efforts to accommodate requests where practicable, but changes cannot be guaranteed.
g. Pure Tuition reserves the right to suspend or terminate ongoing tuition services if a customer does not maintain a valid Direct Debit mandate or fails to meet their payment obligations.
h. If a GoCardless payment or Direct Debit collection is unsuccessful for any reason, customers remain responsible for settling all outstanding tuition fees promptly. Any charges applied by the customer’s bank as a result of a failed collection are the customer’s responsibility.
i. Customers’ payment information is processed securely by GoCardless in accordance with its privacy and security standards. Pure Tuition does not store customers’ full bank account details.
j. Pure Tuition is not responsible for any overdraft charges, bank fees or other costs incurred by customers as a result of Direct Debit collections or failed payments.
k. If an ongoing tuition payment has not been successfully collected before a scheduled lesson, Pure Tuition reserves the right to cancel or postpone the session. The full lesson fee remains payable, and further tuition sessions will not be scheduled until all outstanding fees have been settled and a valid Direct Debit mandate is in place.
4. Cancellation policy
4.1 Timings, lateness and no shows
a. If a student arrives late or does not show up to an agreed session, the time will not be made up by Pure Tuition afterwards and the full lesson rate will still be charged.
b. Student's will be given a recurring weekly session slot but the usual schedule does not apply to the school holidays (see 4.2d for this academic year’s dates). However, holiday lessons may be scheduled upon request, depending on Pure Tuition's availability.
d. If only one student has booked onto a group session, they will be taught a 1:1 half an hour lesson as a replacement.
e. If a student is late to an online tuition session, Pure Tuition agree to keep the online platform (e.g Zoom or Teams) meeting open for the first half of the lesson. However, if we have not heard from the customer by that time, the meeting will be closed, and the lesson will still be charged at the agreed rate.
f. Parents/carers are expected to pick up their child promptly at the scheduled end time of the in-person tuition session. A grace period of 15 minutes will be allowed for late pickups. If a child is not picked up within the 15-minute grace period, Pure Tuition will charge a late pickup fee of £10 for every 15 minutes or part thereof beyond the grace period. Late pickup charges will be billed to the parent/carers account and must be settled in the next payment. Repeated instances of late pickups may result in the termination of services without a refund.
4.2. Cancellations and/or rescheduling
a. Cancellations must be kept to a minimum to maximise the student’s learning potential.
b. Only 1 free of charge cancellation/reschedule per term will be allowed, after this, full fees will be charged.
c. Cancellations or rescheduling requests for 1:1 and group tuition sessions (online or in-person) must be made at least 48 hours before the scheduled session time.
d. Pure Tuition do not offer refunds. However, for 1:1 cancellations, Pure Tuition will try to rearrange the cancelled lesson within the same payment month if possible. If it is not possible to rearrange, the session will be credited to the next month. For group tuition cancellations, a child may be invited to attend a different group session. If the child cannot attend the alternative session, the session will be credited to the next month.
e. Any sessions cancelled within the 48 hour time period will be charged in full. This includes cancellations due to illness, holidays, appointments, or other personal circumstances, as the tuition slot has been reserved exclusively for the student. Pure Tuition is under no obligation to offer an alternative lesson slot for any reason if the minimum notice of 48 hours has not been given.

5. Tuition sessions
a. Online tuition sessions will take place on a platform of Pure Tuition's choice, usually Zoom.
b. For online tuition sessions, customers will receive a link (at least 48 hours before each session) that will be used to access the session.
c. During online tuition sessions, tutors and students are expected to have their cameras on at all times during the lesson. This is to allow the tutor to assess whether a student is struggling with the work and needs extra help, and to ensure the student is fully participating in the lesson.
d. Respectful and appropriate behaviour is expected at all times, online and in-person. Any disrespectful or inappropriate conduct may result in the termination of services without a refund.
e. While we strive to create a safe learning environment, Pure Tuition cannot be held responsible for student's behaviour or injuries resulting from interactions between participants. Parents/carers are urged to address behavioural issues, and open communication is encouraged to resolve any concerns promptly.
f. Customers are given the option to request that the tutor cover particular topics/objectives during 1:1 lessons; however, 48 hours’ notice must be given to enable the tutor to plan appropriately.
g. Although we provide regular feedback on progress, parents/carers can request a paid for ‘Parent’s/Carers Meeting’ with the tutor if they would like to discuss their child's progress in depth. A mutually convenient time and date will be arranged. The cost of this is the same rate as a 1:1 session.
h. For safeguarding reasons during online sessions, it is expected that an adult will remain in the house with students for the duration of the session. Students must not be left alone in the house with the tutor on call.
i. Students must be fully dressed during all lessons.
j. Some group online tuition lessons may be recorded and shared with those who could not attend the live lesson or those who want to catch up in their own time. All cameras will be blacked out before sharing with others.
k. Pure Tuition tutors are expected to be familiar with ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ guidelines from DfE -https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/media/6a4cf903b7203c4c023fd2f3/Keeping_children_safe_in_education_2026_.pdf
6. Termination of this Agreement
a. Tuition sessions will continue until a mutually agreed termination date. Both parties reserve the right to terminate tuition sessions should they no longer be considered beneficial to the student.
b. Payment for tuition sessions is taken in blocks. If customers decide to terminate tuition midway through a block, refunds cannot be given for remaining lessons booked and paid for.
7. Limitation of Liability
a. While Pure Tuition will endeavour to ensure that the student makes satisfactory progress, this cannot be guaranteed, and Pure Tuition cannot be held accountable for the academic success or otherwise of the student.
b. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Pure Tuition accept no liability for any direct or indirect loss or damage, foreseeable or otherwise, including any indirect, consequential, special, or exemplary damages arising from the use of the Pure Tuition's services or any errors or omissions in the contents of the Pure Tuition’s learning materials.
