Welcome note
Hello! My name is Andy Wilkinson. As the founder of Pure Tuition, I am thrilled that you are considering us to be a part of your child's educational journey.
At Pure Tuition, we have created a warm and inclusive space where personalised learning takes centre stage. We ensure that every child's strengths and needs are embraced.
We understand that every child is wonderfully unique, and we are excited to guide them towards growth and success. Let's embark on this learning adventure together, celebrating each milestone along the way.
My Story
My journey in education is deeply personal. Growing up with a younger sibling who has profound Special Educational Needs (SEN), I witnessed firsthand the transformative power of inclusive and tailored education. This experience ignited a passion to ensure that every child, regardless of their individual challenges, receives the support and guidance they need to flourish. Being a husband to an Educational Psychologist and having recently become a new dad, this commitment has only strengthened, as I appreciate more than ever the profound impact educators can have on shaping young lives.
I have 11 years experience working in different school settings including primary, secondary and specialist provisions. Throughout my career, I have been a Teaching Assistant, a Key Stage 1 and 2 Class Teacher, and an Assistant SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator). I am currently a SENCO and Year 1 Class Teacher at a primary school in Bury. Alongside my family and life experiences, these roles have led me to become highly experienced in supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and given me a unique perspective on the incredible impact education can have on a child's life.
Additionally, I am proud to introduce myself as a dedicated phonics specialist with a passion for shaping strong literacy foundations. With years of experience and a deep understanding of phonics principles, I am committed to helping learners of all ages unlock the power of reading and communication. My approach is centred around making the intricate world of phonics accessible and enjoyable, ensuring that each student grasps the essential connections between sounds and letters. Whether it's decoding words, enhancing pronunciation, or building language skills, I am here to guide students on a transformative journey towards confident and proficient reading. Join me in exploring the magic of phonics and paving the way for a lifetime of enriched language skills.
My qualifications include:
-
BA Honours degree in Disability Studies and Education Studies
-
PGCE with QTS (qualified teacher status) - Primary Education with a Special Educational Needs (SEN) specialism
-
PgCert National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination
